New Project: Visual Sound

I have started on a new project recently and will be blogging about it on a regular basis as I develop it. The working project title is “Visual Sound”. I will be building an application that processes audio files, and using that data, things like amplitude, volume, left or right pan, I will output a visualization of the audio. The best part is this will be all happening in real time as you watch it.

This is a project I am very excited about for many reasons. It’s something I have never done before, which always makes it more interesting for me, I love to constantly be learning new things. Another reason is that its is going to use some new technologies such as Papervision3D, (a program that allows us to put 3D into flash). It is also something no one else has done with Papervision3D.

But the biggest thing for me is that this is a chance to create something that people can really relate to, and enjoy. The user will be able to interact with the application and see the results of there interaction, and I think that will create a strong connection between them and the program. There is a lot of potential here, and I am excited to see where I can push it too.
